Heidelberg AI Desk

Your AI tools. One private desk.

Heidelberg AI Desk
At a glance
  • Heidelberg AI Desk is a calm local workspace for reviewed AI chat, coding, and automation tools.
  • The dashboard runs on your computer, with provider routes you choose.
  • Pick a reviewed app, see what it needs before anything changes, and open it locally — your data stays in named volumes that updates never touch.

What Heidelberg AI Desk is

Heidelberg AI Desk is a local-first workspace for reviewed AI tools. The dashboard runs on your computer — not in a browser tab pointed at someone else's server. You choose what to run, see what each app needs before anything changes, and keep control of the setup.

The principle is simple: your AI tools, one private desk.

Clear by design

Before you install or run anything, Desk shows you the app, its requirements, and its current state. No hidden dependencies, no surprise containers — you see what it needs, then you act.

Local first

The launcher and dashboard run on your computer. Apps use the local, LAN, or provider routes that you configure. Downloaded apps and local models can work offline when their configured app and provider support it — initial downloads and remote providers still need a network, but your working setup does not depend on a constant cloud connection.

Built to persist

Reviewed recipes keep app containers and named data volumes distinct. Launcher updates do not update or remove containers, images, models, credentials, or named volumes — updates are explicit, and your data survives them.

From download to working app

  1. Install Desk — use the installer for your platform (Windows, macOS Apple Silicon, or Linux) and follow the setup guidance.
  2. Choose a reviewed app — pick a pinned tool. Desk shows what it needs before anything changes.
  3. Open it locally — use the app through a local route, with durable data kept in its named volume.

Reviewed apps

Desk curates apps before they reach you — reviewed metadata, pinned recipes, and platform-specific evidence. The initial lineup includes:

  • Open WebUI — a focused chat workspace for local models
  • n8n — visual workflows connecting tools and data
  • Node-RED — flows for devices, APIs, and services

A full app store is available with more tools across chat, automation, and flow-building categories.

Available now (beta)

Desk is in internal beta. Desktop installers are available for Windows x64, macOS Apple Silicon, and Linux — with platform-specific notes for each. The hosted curriculum chat is separate from the local Desk downloads.

Heidelberg AI Desk is beta software. Windows is unsigned; macOS is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. Review the platform notes before installing on a managed device.
